Wrapping up summer

Here are some pictures of our other summer activities:

Watching the angel Moroni being put on the Brigham City Temple, such an awesome excitement for a new temple. You could hear cheers all over the town.

"Camping"(we didn't actually spend the night) with our good friends the Alberts and Nowells

"Going to the awesomest party ever"Coleson went to a friend's father/son's ultimate nerf war birthday party.

Brynn kicking it while camping with our Cheney cousins in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Highlights: Exploring and Smores

I took Ammon for a hike across the rocks too.

At the end of May it hit me that Coleson would have 3 whole months of summer vacation, we have never had more than 3 weeks off, with year round school scheduling. So our first task was to buy water balloons, water guns and make the "Kid Wash" Coleson and I were proud of ourselves for using a drill and saw to complete this PVC project without any adult male assistance.

Coleson's Cub Scout Rocket Launch

A visit to the Copper Mine, Coleson used to sit for hours playing with tractors. We would go on walks just so he could watch construction vehicles at the end of our street. We would catch up to tow tracks or visit the fire station often. He still was in awe of the monster dump trucks, but he would have been in heaven if we had gone when he was 4.

We had a good summer!

Our New Friends

We had the opportunity to have exchange students for a week in July. Liu and Liye are 15 year old boys from Beijing. Our kids loved having them here, like two older brothers. They were so polite and helped out with Ammon and Brynn where they could. We tried to entertain them and show them the great things around Syracuse. Ryan and Jill hosted a fabulous 24th pioneer celebration where my whole family got together. Ryan and Seth got a chance to practice their Chinese and translate for us. They spoke enough English for us to get by everyday, but sometimes it was funny to try to make sure we understood each other. We also got together with other host families and had a very busy and tiring week, but well worth the friendships made.
